A DUI has the potential to change your life, especially if your hurt someone when you’re intoxicated. Take, for example, this case involving a woman who hit and killed a pedestrian. The pedestrian’s death resulted in a criminal charge, along with charges for having her child in her vehicle at the time of the crash.
When this kind of situation presents itself, those accused need to have a strong defense. It’s not fair to be presented as someone who is a criminal or who has no consideration for others. A single mistake doesn’t make you a bad person.
The woman from Charles City County has been indicted following the death of a woman from James City County. According to the story, the 30-year-old woman was driving when she hit a pedestrian on Richmond Road. The 50-year-old woman had been walking along the road in June when she was hit; the driver was allegedly drunk when she hit her. The 50-year-old woman was found dead at the scene when medical help arrived.
The 30-year-old woman, who was believed to have a child in the vehicle at the time of the crash, was driving a 2010 Ford Explorer at the time. The police claim she had improper brakes as well as potentially being intoxicated at the time of the crash. The woman now faces charges including aggravated involuntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter and child abuse.
After a crash, you could face a multitude of charges. Defending yourself is important, so you only face the penalties you deserve and nothing more. With help, you can make sure you’re treated fairly.
